HOST: Tell us a little bit about Tiger Claw and is there anything new that you've got for the builder's show this year?
VENDOR: Well this year, yeah, we are introducing a new stainless steel and steel high performance screw. It's called a Three Ring Screw. It's more for screwing through the surface of the decking -- composite or wood -- and has you a more flush blemish-free surface.
HOST: So on the composite decking this new screw shouldn't allow it to mushroom up like we get traditionally with some of the other screw heads.
VENDOR: Yep, exactly.
HOST: Okay. (GESTURES) I see you've got a couple of your clips.
VENDOR: Yeah our main sales are with hidden deck fasteners, (HOST: Right) so you have nothing on the surface at all.
HOST: In the homes that we build I like using composite decking and even the wood decking. I don't like to see the screws through the deck. So I use your product and I like it, but are there some different ones that we can look at as far as -- Do you have different fasteners or is it just kind of one fastener and we use it across the board?
VENDOR: Well because the variance in different decking materials, we have different fasteners to focus on those certain materials. Mainly a lot of the decking companies now are -- What they're doing is pre-grooving their boards: wood and composite. That allows for a much easier installation and it's -- it's a win for the customer, also: better looking deck, the builder gets out of the job faster. So there's more -- more money for the builder, more money for the retailer, and the homeowner is happy.
HOST: Great. Well I see we've got a couple of them here. I mean is this just your -- the traditional Tiger Claw fastener.
VENDOR: This is TCG, which is our best seller. What this does is for pre-grooved decking. We also sell router bits that you can put the exact grooving in or a biscuit joint or stuff like that will make it appropriate --
HOST: (OVER) So you sell those bits? So if, like, I buy lumber or decking that needs a groove in it to do the hidden fastener, you guys can provide that to me? (VENDOR: Exactly) Great! And then just like that -- attach it to the deck, clip both sides in, (VENDOR: Yep) and you get a beautiful surface that has no screws going through it. HOST: I'm familiar with Tiger Claw because I use them on my decks. But tell us a little bit about Tiger Claw and do you have new products coming out at the International Builder's Show?
VENDOR: Sure. Thanks, Scott. We're the manufacturer of a hidden deck fastener -- a whole line of hidden deck fasteners -- that work in pretty much any board out on the market. This year at the show we're reintroducing a TC-1 fastener, which is a steel fastener -- much lower price point for the end user. So it might open up a new market for -- like composite -- I mean for pressure treated woods.
HOST: Right. And you also do have some screws and stuff like that that you came out with?
VENDOR: (OVER) Exactly. We're also introducing a steel and stainless steel composite high performance deck screws for the people that want to go the traditional way through the surface of the deck, which eliminates all the mushrooming and stuff associated with that.
HOST: (OVER) I know. You use a regular screw on those things and you get this huge mushroom. It kind of kills the whole deck. But do you have a -- or you have a TCG fastener with us here.
VENDOR: Yes. (STOP)

HOST: And you brought with you a TCG fastener. Would you like to tell us a little bit about that product?
VENDOR: Sure. This is probably our best-selling fastener here on the market. What it basically does is you take a pre-grooved decking board -- (HOST: Right) Or you can use a router and groove your board or a biscuit joint or something to put that slot on the edge. You simply take this prong here (HOLDING PRODUCT) and install it into the groove, push it down and install a screw right through that hole.
HOST: Right.
VENDOR: Now the bags come with the screws and drive bits. Everything's included. Once you do that over all your supports then you next board simply pops right on to it (HOST: -- slides in there) -- no hammering, nothing.
HOST: So if I have a lot of composite decking, does it come pre-grooved? Like do you sell any kind of product like a router bit or anything that I can use to -- to groove that decking -- to use your product?
VENDOR: (OVER) Well it definitely is a growing trend that a lot of manufacturers -- decking manufacturers -- are grooving their board.
HOST: (OVER) I'm seeing it more myself, too.
VENDOR: Yes, yes. But we also -- For the boards that are solid, we have router bits that will provide the exact groove needed for this fastener.
HOST: Great. I love the product. I love using it because I hate seeing the screws going through a beautiful deck. (VENDOR: I agree) Thanks. Have a great show.
